Our leaders dragged us out to Joshua Tree National Park on Friday night. It’s just a desert full of rocks and we have that pretty close to here, but I guess they thought it would be a good experience to drive for over two hours to visit the National Park. I guess those are actual “national rocks” and the one’s around here are just local rocks. Anyway, it cost money to get in and more money to camp in a campground, so they must be pretty important rocks. The ones around here you can visit for free and so we are just kind of used to them and they are not too impressive, even though they’re Mormons, just like us.
.
Anyway we got out there after dark and we were glad Brigham and Logan went early and saved some campgrounds because evidently they are very popular rocks and the place was pretty full. We cooked dinner and chewed the fat around the campfire and the night was sort of uneventful. Except for some of the boys thought it would be fun to take a BB gun and shoot the other boy’s tents after they hit the sack. So, our leaders informed them that it really wasn’t fun and took the gun away. Bro. Raps thought it looked like a nice BB gun and we probably would have had trouble with him shooting it but he couldn’t figure out how it worked.
.
The night got below 30 degrees and so some of us didn’t sleep really well. We got pretty cold so we got up early and built a fire. When Bro. Jorgenson looked out and saw the fire over 5 feet tall, he got up too. It’s nice that he likes to get up early to be with us.
.
Some of us had bacon and French toast for breakfast and it was delicious. The older scouts had omelets with the “boil in a bag” method. Ask them how that went. It looked pretty interesting.
.
Then we went out exploring and climbing on rocks. There are a lot of rocks out there… did I mention that? We found some great spots and most of us still have most of the skin on our hands. We didn’t break any arms or legs so we didn’t get to practice any first aid or anything like that, but it was still a pretty good day.

Our Scoutmaster is Jerry Jorgenson and he approved this message.
