Selling Mistletoe

On Saturday Dec. 12 we headed down to sell our mistletoe. We wanted to go to Orange County, but it was raining so we figured we'd stay closer to home. We decided the most fun place to sell would be Bass Pro Shops but 12 Scouts on one exit in the rain was a bit much. So Jeff took 4 to Target in Ontario and Jerry took 4 to Target at Summit. Jerry and his group found the exits at Target already claimed by some guy standing in the rain asking for donations so we moved on to Kohl's. Jeff and his group got run off by management at Target in Ontario, so they went next door to Kohl's as well. We had nice over-hangs to work under and only got a little wet. Lee stayed at Bass Pro Shop, but didn't have an over-hang, so he bought a couple of umbrellas for the guys to work with. It rained all morning but within a few hours we sold about 140 bags of mistletoe. And then the sun came out and it was warm and we went to Disneyland and had a great time.... well, ok, it never got sunny and we didn't go to Disneyland. But we actually did have a good time. Above left is Lee's family as they came out from shopping at Kohl's... and bought some mistletoe from Tanner and Jakob. Above right are Logan and Jared. (Sorry the pic's are small, they are from my phone). All the Scouts worked hard and I am proud of them. However, Logan and Jared weren't sure they wanted to quit. We were out of time and had to go, but these two Scouts took all 60 leftover bags and went to Bass Pro Shops a few days later and sold them all. So, with good work by all and extra effort by Logan and Jared we sold out! Our fund is now started for Camp Whitsett! (Last week of July)
If you didn't get any mistletoe and want some, just call up any of the Scouts and they will be glad to hike up the mountain, chop down some parasitic fungus, tie a bow on it and sell it to you for $5. It's all for a good cause. Trust me.
